My name is Daphné, a visual and motion artist from Canada. I studied fine arts and graduated from Université Laval in 1998. Since then, I have worked in the fields of multimedia, web development, and application development. I have always continued creating paintings as a passionate pass-time. I have mostly been inclined to create abstract work, as it is the best way for me to explore the pictural space without getting emotions involved. I developped an interest for screen printing a few years ago and this allowed me to produce numerous piece of work, combining painting technic with screen printing. I also explored printing on fabric and making garments.
I have always been interested in animating my paintings. I did a few animations and videos in the past, but it is mostly in 2019, during the pandemic that I fully developped this interest and started collaborating with electronic musicians and DJs. This interest also expanded to Visual Art Performance. I am currently the Visual resident for the Pandamica Musik Collective as well as the Kollektive and am a special guest visual artist at Montreal Techno Cats. My videos and reactive visuals are all based on paintings I have first created, but below, in the Live Performances section, are some of my Visual performances which combine both original and scratch content.
From Design, to screen preparation, to printing and fabrication of garments, printing on canvas and finally, animaton of imagery and concept in videos (The Mysterious Paradox for time).
